At her Miami International Boat Show Debut, more than 300 invited guests were greeted by Irwin L. Jacobs, Chairman of Genmar Holdings LLC, and Robert Van Grunsven, President of Marquis Yachts. Entertainment was live jazz by the band “Sound of Vision;” plus molto magnums of Henri Giaud French champagne, with hors d’oeuvres; as well as a tasty dinner presented by A Joy Wallace, of Miami Beach catering fame. Also on hand, Carlo Nuvolari, principal of the Italian design firm, who hosted presentations on high-end yacht design. Interior designer Valentina Zannier was not able to attend, but remarked “It's so exciting to see concepts I’ve developed for one-off megayachts incorporated into a yacht this size.”

Style is only a part of her attractive qualities. M-720’s Fiberglass hull utilizes U.S. Navy-style construction with hull and deck plate forming an integrated structural element – “box-beamed.” It’s cored fiberglass encapsulating high-density foam core below the waterline and end grain balsa core above the waterline. The deck-plate utilizes tubular aluminum rails, mechanically fastened and laminated to the hull sides around the entire circumference. Hull bottom is molded with Knytex substrates; sandblasted in preparation for bottom paints to assure adherence and eliminate the “peeling effect.”

Aft of the helm on the fly deck, an ultra-leather lounge accommodates at least six adults, plus three comfortably at the curved, multi-level stand-up bar. The entire design is soft-molded, with no corners. An attractive, monogrammed-accent stainless steel gate separates the lounging area from the rear deck and the entire deck is non-skid with optional waterproof carpet. Taking a tactile tour, it's quickly evident the flydeck is robust in nature. From the materials chosen to the engineering and installation, this is well-conceived flybridge.

Maybe better than Aleutian 92: Wavepiercer 50m

Hargrave 84'

So what's everyone talking about? A Raised Pilothouse , minus the wheelhouse, sorta speak. Yes, a control station is still present, but it's taken a side seat to open air vistas and views that are unmatched by any raised pilothouse from the past. To the untrained eye, exterior styling and lines make the new 84' look similar to other yachts in the 100+ foot range, including full pilothouse windows. Closer scrutiny reveals a departure from other Hargrave yachts with an emphasis on grand living accommodations and wide open spaces.

Hargrave heard the call from clients who wanted a raised pilothouse yacht that could be handled by a couple. In most circumstances, exceeding 70 feet in length means adding a helping hand. So, Hargrave did a design study in conjunction with Ted Black, along with some underwriting support from a private owner and the 84 Hargrave RPH was born, along with a whole new RPH concept. But, more on this later...

Up high on the flybridge, creature comforts are under the fiberglass “hardtop” which has a built-in convertible soft top that retracts forward, offering a more open-air feeling for soaking up rays or watching the stars. It opens right behind the helm, keeping the captain shaded and not frying in the sun. The 21-foot beam allows for a wide bridge deck, which also extends aft sufficiently to store a 15-ft Nautica Tender (with 90 hp Yamaha four-stroke outboard) and a Quicklift 2,000 lb electric davit.

The flybridge helm is chock full of space for full electronics and a chart or two. The layout includes Caterpillar engine displays flanked by two Furuno Navnet plotters running Nobeltec chart software. Raymarine displays for depth, speed, temp and wind logs; a Simrad auto pilot, dual ICOM radios (one a regular VHF, the other a remote Command Mic which offers full radio functions and wired to the ICOM VHF at the lower station), Bennett trim tab indicator, bow thruster joystick, remote spotlight controls and a few other electronics. The absence of most switches and breakers, which are located at the lower station, keeps the upper helm dash uncluttered and resistant to the elements.

Moonen Shipyard's 97 , made: Sofia II

Sofia II  is something totaly amazying yacht, certain to be welcomed by the exclusive coterie of yacht owners who appreciate the foremost in yacht design as well as the highest quality construction. Moonen’s newest yard facility at the classic, medieval Brabant European town of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, now adds even more capacity to its quarter century of yacht building, with a 63m / 206’ construction hall in the nearby town of Groot-Ammers.

A view from the top shows Sofia II’s clever use of space. The low profile and design of the Flying Bridge adds volume throughout, enabling a larger master suite below as well as guest rooms, plus increased stowage. This also allows a longer afterdeck lounge area, plus increased room below for chartering or augmented crew accommodations. She sports a folding Bimini top on her upper deck, plus two tender cranes as well as a large inflatable tender and water toys. Outboard, her Night Navigator3 thermal imaging system enhances night vision and security.

 

What to say more that this, I think that pictures talking everything about this beauty yacht! For me it is much beter than aleutian yacht that I already wrote about.

Smuggler's Cove is quite possibly the most private beach on Tortola, outside of the several uninhabited sandy islands with no amenities at all. The people of the Virgin Islands frown on public nudity. Save that for another time. The Peter Island Resort is a perfect place to base your yachting from. Located on a privately-owned island that is undeveloped outside the resort, Peter Island offers moorings for your yacht, perfect honeymoon accommodations with every resort perk, and nothing to do at night but enjoy one another, the beach, the ripe scent of jasmine, and the brilliant stars overhead. Need a perfect beach on Peter Island? Deadman's Bay, though it has a decidedly unromantic name, is rated one of the top ten romantic beaches of the Caribbean; take a stroll here under the palms and seagrape trees and watch the light of the sunset fade, leaving just the two of you alone here.
Another romantic choice: explore the pirates. The British Virgin Islands, and especially Tortola, were a pirate haven. An added bonus: nearby Pelican Island is right next to The Indians and Rainbow Canyon, one of the best snorkeling and diving spots in the world.
Or you can sail from the west end of Tortola along its south coast, passing island after island on the way to Virgin Gorda. The British Virgin Islands were named after St. Ursula and her 11,000 virgins because there are so many little islands that dot the area; most are uninhabited. This means that you can stop at any of them for a romantic moonlight dinner, and private dancing on the beach afterward. All your most romantic fantasies can be lived out here on sun-warmed beaches next to deep blue waters.

3. A) Counter Offer: Negotiations proceed through a (possible) series of offers and counter offers.

4. Sea Trial: Is conducted at Owner’s expense, often en-route to the survey site.

5. Survey: Is conducted at Buyer’s expense. Costs vary, however, $20.00 per foot, plus $5.00 per foot for hauling out, is an average. Your broker can provide a list of qualified surveyors, as well as insurance companies, marine yards, etc. The survey must meet the buyer’s approval. There is no other standard by which the vessel passes survey other than the buyers own approval.

6. A) Acceptance of Vessel: Resulting from satisfactory survey and sea trial.

B) Rejection of Vessel: Based on survey and/or sea trial (deficiencies). Possible re-negotiation of price or repairs dependent on the severity of deficiencies or refund of deposit to buyer,

7. Closing: Transfer of documents and title upon receiving balance of funds.

Your broker can suggest a documentation agent to handle the transfer of paperwork and verify clear title. Prices will vary depending upon where the boat is registered and where you want your new registration, but start at $400.00.

Aleutian Yachts launched 92-foot yacht into the Blair Waterway

Aleutian Yachts launched a $6 million, 92-foot yacht into the Blair Waterway. The luxury boat – which took Aleutian more than two years to build – has five bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances, a sky lounge and a full-time crew of four including the captain and a chef.

“Everything is top end,” said Greg Ward, CEO of Aleutian Yachts, which is now headquartered in the port’s Earley

Business Center at the tip of the Blair-Hylebos Peninsula. The company is one of several being displaced by the Port of Tacoma’s plans to develop new shipping terminals on the east side of the Blair Waterway.

The yacht’s new owners, Raymond and Sally Duncan, and Sally’s mother, christened the vessel early Tuesday morning with champagne and a bottle of cabernet. The first was tradition and the latter was fitting – it’s the name of the boat. The Duncans are founders of Silver Oak Cellars, a winery in California. They are also involved in the oil business, according to the Silver Oaks Web site.
